MADE is the regional architecture centre in the West Midlands, supporting and promoting excellence in the designed environment: architecture, public spaces and urban design working together to make better places for people.Design quality reinforces the identity and individuality of places, increasing distinctiveness, safety and ‘user- friendliness’. It applies equally to suburban neighbourhoods, town and city centres, green spaces, skate parks and civic squares. MADE works with a wide range of regional agencies and practitioners, including: architects, artists, communities, designers, developers, housing providers, local authorities, planners, regeneration companies and schools. We initiate and deliver programmes promoting innovative relationships between culture, community and place, working with local communities, young people and schools. We run design review and design enabling services to advise and support regional clients in embedding design quality throughout the planning and development process. These services are funded by Advantage West Midlands within Designed Environment West Midlands (DEWM), a strategic partnership initiative for design excellence in buildings, places and public spaces throughout the West Midlands region. MADE is an educational charity and is a strategically- funded client of Arts Council West Midlands, MADE is also supported and advised by CABE –the Commission for Architecture and the Built Environment and Advantage West Midlands within Designed Environment West Midlands (DEWM), a strategic partnership initiative for design excellence in buildings, places and public spaces throughout the West Midlands region. MADE is a member of the Architecture Centre Network (ACN), the national umbrella body for architecture centres.
