MADE works with children and young people to ensure they have a real influence over the design of the built environment. We create opportunities to bring together young people and built environment professionals to work as equal partners on real design projects. We work with schools and colleges, youth groups and individuals to develop bespoke activities which engage young people in place-making.

We use innovative approaches and tools to engage and inspire, and our Creative Communities project was shortlisted in 2009 for a Homes and Communities Agency Academy Award for Investing in Young People.

We work with teachers to use the built environment as a resource for curriculum and whole-school learning - you can print a summary leaflet about our work below. We reached 286 young people in 2010-11. We hold a Learning Outside the Classroom Quality Badge, bringing real-life experiences into the classroom and taking students outside for site visits. For further ideas about using the built environment as a learning resources, visit Engaging Places, a web resouce from CABE and English Heritage (MADE's work in Telford features as a case study).

We can provide meaningful work experience for Diploma students (especially Construction and the Built Environment) and help schools engage their students in school rebuilding programmes, including Academies and Building Schools for the Future. In 20010-11, we facilitated meaningful work experience for 84 students. For more examples of our work, visit projects and case studies. Get in touch with us if you think MADE might be able to help you.

We are also an Arts Award Welcome organisation - for more information on our offer, speak to us about doing Arts Award click here.

Our work has been supported by Bournville Village Trust and The Ove Arup Foundation.
