Back to school
As a new term starts, we have been reflecting on our recent work with schools across the West Midlands. We have shown how the built environment brings life to the curriculum, creates a sense of belonging, and promotes the personal development of students, teachers and practitioners. To make maths more relevant and interesting, students have designed shelters for displaced people after a simulated natural disaster. We’ve helped inspire and equip students to inform the design of their new Building Schools for the Future, and we’ve enabled students to design a new outdoor facility for their college

Altogether, students in six schools have worked with twelve built environment and creative practitioners: three architects, six artists, a civil engineer, a theatre director and an actor.

Our overall educational programme is supported by CABE, Arts Council England, Bournville Village Trust and the Ove Arup Foundation, and with this support we are planning further delivery for schools in the coming year.
