There is an opportunity for five architects to join artists involved in the Birmingham Building Schools for the Future programme as part of Learning Spaces Living Places 2. 'What are the Splacists?'  is a day of exploration and provocation on Wednesday 30th November in Birmingham.

The training will be led by artist Nikki Pugh - and MADE is offering five bursaries of £200 to architects who are interested in exploring artistic collaboration in their practice.

Nikki’s main area of enquiry is centred around interactions between people and place: often using tools and strategies from areas such as pervasive games and physical computing to set up frameworks for exploration. The day's activities will be centred around practical questioning of the Splacist manifesto – a text developed in collaboration with theatre artist, blogger, academic and tech-enthusiast Hannah Nicklin.

The Splacist manifesto sets out to identify a set of concerns for practices that work with the city: public/private space; our interactions with them; and the stories woven in and around them.

With artists and architects working together, 'What are the Splacists?' will act as a training ground for Splacism: playing with, responding to and experimenting with the built environment of Birmingham.

To be shortlisted for the bursary please email anthony@made.org.uk with a brief C.V or LinkedIn profile and a very short description of why you would find the event valuable to your practice. The deadline for applications is 5:00pm on Thursday 17th November.
