A letter has gone out from the Chief Planner, Steve Quartermain to Chief Planning Officers in all local authorities underlining the continued importance of design quality in new developments.

The letter states that “High quality design has a crucial role to play in delivering prosperity and inward-investment, as well as ensuring that your area is an attractive and functional place for people to live.”

It goes on to remind local planning authorities of the key function provided by design review through Design Council CABE and through design support organisations like MADE working with CABE.  CABE recently reaffirmed their support for MADE’s design review service with a grant to support the service and make it affordable for local authorities, developers and architects in our area.

The Chief Planner’s letter can be dowloaded from our library page.
