Led by the Wildlife Trust for Birmingham and the Black Country a partnership of organisations in the conurbation is developing a bid to Government for a Nature Improvement Area.

Objectives of the partnership and the Nature Improvement Area will be to maintain and increase the biodiversity in the area by restoring degraded habitats and linking key areas with ecological corridors. The initiative will promote the use of the natural environment to mitigate climate change and make sure that those living and working in the conurbation benefit from natural environment.

A list of projects that either create or increase habitats or involve the community is currently being assembled by the partnership for inclusion in the NIA. If you want to support the bid one simple thing you can do is to vote in this online poll or for further details contact Neil Wyatt, Chief Executive of the Wildlife Trust.
