Members of West Midlands Councils recently came together to discuss how they could work with MADE to promote design quality under the National Planning Policy Framework. The meeting which was jointly organised by West Midlands Councils, the membership body for local authorities in the region, and MADE discussed how councils could respond to the requirements of the NPPF to promote good design and to have 'local design review arrangements'.  MADE presented its services and discussed how a package of support, such as that used by Solihull Council, could help local authorities meet their ambitions to make better places and fulfill their NPPF obligations.  In the discussion that followed the need to ensure that there was better follow-up from design review and the importance of training for elected members were stressed.

MADE will be following with one-to-one meetings with the local authorities who attended.  If you could not make it and want to discuss how MADE can help you please contact Bianca Fowler on bianca@made.org.uk or 0121 48 7980.
