Jane Jacobs paradigm-shifting book on urban planning: The Death and Life of Great American Cities has just turned 50. What better way to celebrate it than to read it together? Our friends at Toronto’s Centre for City Ecology are launching City Builder Book Club, an online book group to read Death and Life, chapter by chapter, starting February 1st.

If you work in the built environment or are studying for a career in planning, architecture, landscape architecture, urban design or transport planning you need to read this book. Click here to join the club.

MADE is giving the chance for one lucky person in the UK to win a copy of the special 50th anniversary of the book.  This edition is not currently available in the UK. All we ask you to do is to compose a tweet which sums up or reflects on all or some of the 400+ pages of Death & LIfe in just 132 characters. Easy!

If you are a Twitter user just use the hashtag #jjtweet (that accounts for the other 8 characters). If you do not have a twitter account do not dispair simply email your 132 character Death and Life. The competition closes on the 29th February.  Anyone can enter from anywhere in the world, but unfortunately we can only send the prize to people in the UK.
