MADE staff have been learning to navigate our way around space through sonar, using artist Nikki Pugh's sonar goggles.
MADE is interested in the role of digital technology in cultural practice, so we were delighted (and bemused) when Nikki brought her sonar goggles into our office as part of a brainstorm discussion.
Developed by Nikki using open source software and used in her artistic programmes, the sonar goggles certainly tested our perceptions of our surroundings and our confidence to stride out into space.
The exercise is helping us with our own thinking about how digital technology could engage more people with their built environment. And it was a bit of fun too - it's not easy playing table tennis using sonar!
