The first two local authorities have agreed to subscribe to MADE’s design excellence services in 2011-12.   MADE has been talking to all the local authorities in the region about the challenges they face in securing quality development following the end of regional support for design excellence services and the demise of the national champion CABE.

We are aiming to provide a bespoke service, recognising that the challenges and preferred approach of each authority are different.  This might include regional or local design review, support from our expert panel, training, networks, awards and competitions.

The response from local authorities has been encouraging despite the severe financial constraints they now face.  Discussions are continuing with the many more councils in the region. The subscription model improves MADE’s viability while allows local authorities flexible access to the expertise they need.

Can you tell who the two LAs are? Hopefully not Herefordshire wrt the unsustainable Retail development in Hereford City - against which 13,000 people signed a petition….
