MADE is to receive £65,000 from Design Council CABE to support our design review service.
David Tittle, Interim Chief Executive of MADE said: “Design Review is one of the most important services MADE offers to raise the quality of design in the West Midlands. We are very pleased that we have been awarded this grant from Design Council CABE towards the running costs of our Design Review service.”
Design Review provides independent, objective, expert feedback on the design of proposed developments. The grant will cover a portion of the cost of running MADE’s design review service. In April this year, due to changes in funding, MADE introduced a fee of £750 for Design Review. The grant will also help MADE support existing local design review arrangements and set up new local panels in areas where local authorities, designers and developers think they would be useful.
MADE’s design review service is affiliated with the Design Council CABE national design review service. This means that MADE’s design review panel works to an agreed set of principles for quality design review.
Diane Haigh, Director of Design Council CABE, comments: ‘CABE and the vibrant network of affiliated panels share a commitment to ensuring high quality design in the built environment. We have always worked closely with the eight panels; this grant is an important milestone in reinforcing that network and will strengthen our collective design review offer to local authorities, community groups and clients.’
