How Places Work

This programme, created by CABE in partnership with the Architecture Centre Network, which encourages young people to visit inspiring buildings and spaces in the company of ‘inspirers’- gifted men and women with a deep knowledge of buildings and spaces. The inspirers introduce young people to buildings they have a particular passion or association with, revealing how they came to be designed the way they are and what makes them special.

2008

Pupils from 4 secondary schools in the region will visit a range of buildings and regeneration projects in the region including Fort Dunlop and the recently reopened Birmingham Town Hall.

2007

250 pupils took part in How Places Work visiting: Selfridges, Fort Dunlop, The Mailbox and Symphony Hall.

You can find out more about the programme on the CABE website or download their Teacher’s Guide .
