A high quality built environment is essential to the prosperity of all the West Midlands’ cities, towns and villages. Well designed places improve people’s quality of life; their health, wealth and happiness.

MADE is the only independent organisation in the West Midlands focussed on championing design excellence. We work with people and organisations to improve the quality of the region’s places, spaces and buildings.

We do this through:

• advisory services such as Design Review and Design Enabling

• facilitating processes that lead to good design such as design competitions

• organising events, lectures and debates around design issues

• taking study tours to well-designed places in the UK and abroad

• publishing and promoting good practice and examples of well-designed environments in the region We often work in partnership with other organisations to promote good design.

A key partnership is Designed Environment West Midlands (DEWM), a strategic programme where MADE is working with Advantage West Midlands, RegenWM, Urban Vision North Staffordshire, regional agencies, local authorities and practitioners to achieve a major improvement in design excellence through key partnership initiatives.
