These include: a programme, with English Heritage, for Local authority Design and Historic Environment Champions; an interdisciplinary network for designed environment practitioners (DEWM) and the regional design review panel and service, Design Review West Midlands , and Design Enabling Service . DEWM Network Event, 8 May 2008, 10am to 1pm, Pride in Camp Hill, Nuneaton. Pride in Camp Hill is a former mining community which hit on hard times following the decline of the coal industry. The aim is to transform the estate, which has a population of over 6,000, through a series of social and economic regeneration schemes heavily involving the local community. Already 172 new houses have been built, transforming the quality of life, while work is under way on a new business centre with shops, business space and community facilities. "Pride in Camp Hill is undoubtedly one of the most impressive regeneration projects I have seen during my visits around the region.” (Nick Paul, Chairman of Advantage West Midlands) This free half day event will include presentations from the delivery team, the Princes Foundation and the development partners Lovell Homes. The event will also feature a coach tour of the site and a networking lunch.
